My daughter asked me what we are celebrating.
I said freedom.
She said what is freedom.
I said freedom is being able to have this cookout in our backyard with our family and our music and our food and nobody telling us we cannot.
She thought about it for three seconds and said so freedom is ribs?
And honestly? Today? Yeah.
Freedom is ribs.
Happy Fourth from Houston. The grill is hot. The kids are loud. The neighbors can hear our music. Everything is exactly as it should be.
