My daughter asked me to make her a bunny. So I learned to crochet.
That was three years ago. The first bunny looked like a potato with ears. She loved it anyway. She named it Gerald.
Now I make them for other people's children and every single one still starts with Gerald in my mind. The potato that started everything.

Oh man, Gerald. I'm not crying, you're crying.
My grandma made me a raggedy little bear when I was born, it's literally just a lump with button eyes now because I carried it everywhere. She passed a few years ago and that thing is my most prized possession. The stitches that are coming loose just make me love it more honestly.
