MY AWAKENING

Upon the sands was my faith rested.
Sands of money and prestige
Unbeknownst to me what was to come
I considered firm intangibles.
Then as the storms raged
Thorn from me first the money then the prestige
Lo, I was nothing again.

Empty, seeking to fill up.
For within had a void has been hosted
Encumbered by the feeling of naught, I sought.
Then across I came upon the mount.
Which mount you might enquire,
The Mount of Calvary

It was then in this moment
I was hit with the truth,
For I have long dwelt in the surreal
In him was where the firmness was found
In firmness now I build
On the ROCK!
The firmness of God,
through Christ, rest now my faith in God.
For the storms rage
But I now rest with him
Who walks on water.
Lo, my awakening!

This poem really resonated with me. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the chasing of wealth and prestige, but finding faith in something bigger—something divine—is such a powerful reminder. The struggle with money and power is relatable, and then turning to God makes all the difference. It’s like having a guiding light when everything feels shaky. I think about how that feeling of nothingness can be so draining, but finding home on the rock must feel amazing.

Wow, Martinez—thank you. Your reflection captures the heart of the poem so beautifully. That journey from chasing shadows to finding light in something eternal… it’s everything. I’m glad it resonated with you. Truly, finding home on the Rock after the storm is a peace words can barely hold. Thank you for seeing it, and for sharing so deeply.
