African Childhood Memory: My Dream Life
In the quiet hills of the plateaus,
She grins with laughter, a girl full of dreams.
In the hearts of those around her, she plants seeds of hope,
Breeding thoughts of greatness from deep within.
With each day, her passion grows,
A fountain of good life overflowing from her soul.

Step by step, day by day, she dances through childhood
Playing "mum" with her siblings and friends,
Cooking meals with sand, stone, and leaves,
While her playmates pretend to eat.
She cradles her doll like the women she admires,
Imagines driving her kids to school in an invisible car,
Living out her dream as a career woman and a doting grandmother,
Knitting tiny sweaters for grandkids who exist only in her mind.
Oh, what a sweet life she dreams.

But then, reality sets in.
She’s all grown up, and life isn’t a fairy tale.
It’s full of highs and lows, emotions swirling like the wind.
Marriage is beautiful, but not just "ring around the roses."
And childbearing? It’s far from the simple game we once played.
We watch our children grow, taking them to school on foot,
Jumping on crowded buses just to get by.
We work hard, and now we say adulthood is a scam.

I wonder what it will be like when she’s old.
Will her dream come true?
Ah, but wait
That was her dream life.
