The Yobe State Governor, H.E Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN, has confirmed that the monitoring work by various committees of the state assembly has been instrumental in ensuring transparency and accountability.
The governor stated this today while receiving the newly appointed Commissioner for Anti-Corruption, Borno and Yobe States independent corrupt practices commission (ICPC), Mr. Linus Gubbi.
The governor also assured that the establishment of the state Public Accounts Commission has been instrumental in monitoring the amount of money spent on procurement, awarding contracts and misappropriation of public funds.
"The state business management agency has gained strength through its independence from the state government, with the government's approval, transparency and accountability in governance will be enhanced.
"The oversight functions carried out by various committees of the state assembly are increasingly effective in ensuring transparency and accountability in government operations." Governor Buni said
The governor also confirmed that the prudent management of state resources has helped in the implementation of projects that affect the community across the state.
He also assured that the commendation received by the state government from the agency will further motivate the government to promote transparency and accountability policies and fight corruption in all its dealings.
