Following the commitment of the Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, to develop agriculture and boost the economy of the local government area, Potiskum LGA won an international award at the recently concluded 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair in Kaduna State.
Yobe State is among the 36 states in Nigeria that hosted the fair, namely the 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair, where the state won several awards under the leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN.
Yobe State has 17 local government areas. Potiskum Local Government Area stood out for winning the award for its dedication and demonstration of agricultural technologies and philosophies, including the creation of modern agricultural products that will help to change the world’s agricultural landscape and facilitate agricultural activities for the world’s communities.
The Potiskum Local Government Area, under the chairmanship of Hon. Salisu Muktari, is the only local government area that won the award as a local government area in the entire conference, which brought together 774 local government areas and different countries of the world to demonstrate the dedication, leadership, and economy of each sector.
After displaying modern machinery that will transform the agricultural landscape from manual to easy and modern technology-based, the local government area displayed various types of agricultural products, which attracted the attention of major international businessmen to establish business relations with farmers in Yobe State.
Potiskum Local Government Area also showcased traditional cultures ranging from food to clothing to the history of the local government’s emirates.
Stakeholders at the event commended Hon. Salisu Muktari for his efforts in giving priority to the agricultural sector to boost the economy and provide livelihood opportunities for the good people of the local government area.
