Mama's Kitchen.

This is what Sunday morning smells like if smell had a color palette. Jollof steam is orange. Palm oil is the deepest red you have ever seen. Fried plantain is gold. And the whole thing together is that feeling you only get when someone is cooking because they love you, not because they are hungry.

Acrylic, magazine food cutouts, fabric from an old kitchen curtain my mother was throwing away (she does not know it is in here yet), and spray paint. 3 x 4 feet.

Every Nigerian kid knows this painting. They just have not seen it on a wall yet.

Wait, the part about the curtain fabric hit me hard. My mom used to have this yellow floral curtain in our kitchen that I swear smelled like stew no matter how many times she washed it. This is so specific and true. I can almost taste the plantain looking at it. Do you sell prints?
