Mama Africa
Drunken with love
We crumble at thy feet.
Mother, like beggars
Lift us up to thy benevolent breast
For what greater passion
Than for thy glory
Have these crumbling tents of dusts?
Suckle us to good health
Nurture our broken souls
Shackled to generations of exploitations
Back to life a new, for
Time gifts not our shadows
The light in good fate,
Smile upon our wearied souls
Breaking asunder the shackles of our troubles
Like morning dews
Upon withering grass a thirst with drought
In your caring embrace
We settle for the sleep of the innocent and free
For what but your tender love
Wipes away our tears
And with gentle kisses of heavens buds
You kiss our dying hearths to glows a warm.
All comforts comes from your faithful breasts.
Dear Mama, till our longings
Crumbles with these tents we drag
You alone shall thread
The mazes of our hearts dear Mama.
Leaving memories behind for our graves
When to sleep eternal.
Our souls are lulled
With seasons passing
When to sad fruition comes
This crumbling piles of dust
Like shadows from dawn to dusk forsaken
Rusts in ripeness streaks of light
Mama, night in death threatens
Time dissolves, memories naught becomes
And no acquaintance with tomorrow there is
But this faltering dawn of our last breathe
As age crumbles life a pile of dust
And your sons and daughters, to
Home returns, from toils yonder
In peace reclines to your bosom Mama Africa
