DAY 9 - AKERELE AFRICAN PRINTS AND ACCESSORIES MARKET, LAGOS STATE
📍Akerele, Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria

Lovely Adires, Batik, Ghana prints and other African prints displayed in colours on the street of Akerele will always be a point of attraction to tourists and natives alike.


This market lane has numerous shops on both sides of the road with similar goods on display yet every seller has customers who patronise them. Many of the sellers are from the Yoruba tribe as the Adire and aṣọ-òkè are prints associated with the Yoruba people.

Accessories varies from African print bangles to flowing gowns (Boubou), wooden sculptures, Ankara laptop bags, Adire materials (Tie-dye) and auto geles (headgear) made from the Yoruba aṣọ-òkè. Beautiful lace gowns, stoned and mixed with Ankara, are not left out.
