LET'S MAKE HASTE

As fervently as thou may wish,
no mortal kind can harness
time in a leash. Tick-tock,
tick-tock, that's what the clock
preaches; to a being who holds
a thing to do, so swiftly to do.
.
As fervently as thou may will,
time canst be a mortal's friend.
It's not his natural trend, for his
way, men would gravely wend,
that his paths would go bend,
beyond his envisioned end.
.
It's only in graves that still is
time, and in limbo of men -here
asleep, within wraps of mildewed
cerement, that nought can be
attempted to quicken dormant
souls among darkly cobwebs of
the earthly transitioned.
.
Let's make haste, let's make haste
ere everything go late! Time yet is
chaste, that these hours be not
laid waste. Let's pace towards
there where our liberties lead us
straight, for our brightly lit clouds
shall twilight sooner become.
