The Labour Party, through its National Chairman, Julius Abure has expressed grief over the death of its erstwhile Director-General of its 2023 Presidential Campaign, Doyin Okupe.

Abure, in a statement in Abuja said the party’s leadership is shaken by the news of Okupe’s sudden demise.

According to Abure, Okupe had played key roles in Nigerian politics, having served as the National Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention before joining the Labour Party in 2022.

He maintained that Okupe’s active participation in the Party’s push for the presidency in 2023 clearly revealed his inspirational and charismatic self as well as his statesmanship.

Okupe today passed away at the age of 72 after battling a protracted illness suspected to be cancer.
