Kora National Park is historically significant as the former home of renowned conservationists George and Joy Adamson. Their base, known as “Kampi ya Simba,” served as a sanctuary for rehabilitating and releasing captive lions into the wild. Tragically, George Adamson was murdered by poachers in 1989, leading to the park's designation as a national park later that year to honor his conservation efforts .
