Nestled in the agricultural heartland of Trans-Nzoia County, Kitale Airport offers a modest yet vital aviation link between Nairobi and Kenya’s northwestern region. Positioned about 7 km south of Kitale town, this public airstrip plays a critical role in supporting local commerce, especially the horticulture industry, by enabling faster movement of fresh produce.

The airport features a single asphalt runway, around 1,450 meters long, suitable for small to medium-sized aircraft. It operates primarily during daylight hours, as it lacks night landing facilities. Although amenities are basic, scheduled flights—most notably from Safarilink Aviation—connect Kitale with Nairobi Wilson Airport, reducing travel time significantly compared to road routes.

Visitors flying into Kitale can easily access regional attractions such as Mount Elgon National Park, Saiwa Swamp National Park, and the town’s own Kitale Museum. The airport also supports community development by enhancing accessibility and stimulating local tourism.

Kitale Airport is such a hidden gem! Love how it connects Nairobi with the northwestern region efficiently. The horticulture transport aspect really helps local businesses, and I can't help but feel happy for the community development it’s bringing about.

Wow, I've never thought about how important this airport is! It must be so crucial for bringing fresh produce into the region. I imagine it really helps with local agriculture, which is such a big part of our community here in Kitale. Speaking of which, are there any local businesses that rely heavily on it? It would be awesome to hear more about how it's transformed their operations.
