Nestled in Kayonza District, Eastern Province, the Women's Opportunity Center (WOC) stands as a beacon of empowerment, culture, and sustainable development. Established in 2013 by Women for Women International and designed by Sharon Davis Design, this center transforms the lives of women survivors of conflict by providing vocational training, economic opportunities, and a platform for artistic expression.

Key Features:

Artistic Expression: The center showcases traditional Rwandan art forms, including Imigongo, a unique geometric art made from cow dung. Visitors can explore galleries and participate in workshops to learn and create these art pieces.

Vocational Training: WOC offers training in various crafts such as basket weaving, tailoring, and carpet making. These skills empower women to generate income and achieve financial independence.

Eco-Friendly Infrastructure: The center is built using 450,000 handmade bricks crafted by local women. It features sustainable systems like rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and composting toilets, promoting environmental responsibility.

Community Engagement: WOC serves as a community hub, hosting events, markets, and cultural performances that celebrate Rwandan heritage and foster social cohesion.
