I’ve been there, working two jobs while trying to keep my head above water. Taking time off wasn’t possible, but I found one thing that made a huge difference: microboundaries. Instead of carving out a whole day, I started with 10 minutes of absolute nothing after work. No phone, no TV, just sitting on the porch staring at a tree. That small pocket of quiet helped me reset without losing income.

Another thing that helped me was shifting my mindset around rest. I used to think rest meant lying in bed for hours, but that actually made me feel guilty and more drained. I started treating rest as an active choice. For me, that meant doing one small thing I actually wanted to do each day, like reading a single chapter of a novel or listening to one song I loved. It sounds tiny, but it rebuilt my sense of control.

I also got ruthless about energy leaks. I realized I was scrolling social media for 30 minutes before bed, which felt like rest but actually kept my brain buzzing. I swapped that for a 5 minute stretch or just closing my eyes. That alone made my sleep better and gave me more steam the next day.

I know this isnt a magic fix, but these little adjustments kept me from total crash without needing a break I couldnt take.

the 10 minute porch thing hit me right in the feels. i've been doing something similar where i just sit with my coffee for 5 minutes before i even look at my phone in the morning. never thought of it as a microboundary but that totally makes sense. also the guilt thing with rest is so real, like i'd feel lazy for not being productive even on my day off. gotta try that "active rest" stuff
