

IOM Facilities return of 140 stranded Nigerians in Sudan to Kano

The International Organisation for Migration has announced the return to Nigeria of 140 Nigerians who were stranded in Sudan for months as part of its Voluntary Humanitarian Return.
The organization in a statement today said the chartered flight which is the first since the onset of the crisis in Sudan landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on February 27, where Nigerian Government officials welcomed the returnees.
The statement disclosed that among them were 64 women, 36 children, and four infants under 12 months old, as well as migrants with health conditions.
According to the statement, each of the migrants, following their return, received post-arrival assistance including counselling, medical attention where necessary, as well as assistance for onward transportation to their final destinations.
The organization assured to work with partners to ensure the migrants are reintegrated through additional support based on individual needs.
