"Impatience and Chaos.": The Rising Tide of Stampedes in Nigeria.

The recent unfortunate and heartbreaking events witnessed in some parts of Nigeria can be traced to citizens' impatience. If the government is to be blamed, then some portion of the blame should also be awarded to us as citizens. Not all locations where food sharing takes place experience stampedes. For example, consider filling stations; people often push themselves due to impatience in an attempt to outsmart one another. The same can be said for ATM machines, where individuals are reluctant to wait their turn, leading to heightened tensions and conflicts. I've seen many ATM locations where people fight and physically assault each other in the name of withdrawing cash. If care is not taken, stampedes will continue to occur wherever large crowds gather, regardless of the events taking place. This 'rush hour' behavior seems ingrained in our society. It is not limited to any gender, age, or social status, as it affects everyone, including the elites.

Lastly, there is a need for greater orientation for citizens on the negative consequences of impatience, as well as the necessity for security and medical aid at events involving large crowds.
