If I could bind the winds to stay,I’d hold the hours back, delayThe coming dusk, the final breath,To prove my love defies all death.

I dread not Death’s cold, silent breath,
Nor shadows deep that veil the earth,
But Time, that cruel and cunning thief,
Doth steal the moments of my grief.
Days, weeks, and months, swift-footed years,
Are but as whispers ’mongst my tears.
No span of hours, nor measured day,
Can hold the love I fain would say.
O Love, what flame doth burn within!
Each tick of clock, a piercing pin.
Not for the heavens’ golden gate,
But one more glance ere comes my fate.
If I couldst claim eternity,
I’d roam thy soul’s infinity,
Unfold the depths no tongue hath told,
In every breath, in fire and cold.
How merciless the sands that fall,
Ere I have poured out all my all.
Yet know this truth beyond death’s door:
My love shall last forevermore.
Though flesh decay and bones do break,
No tomb this sacred vow shall take.
If granted lives a thousand fold,
I’d spend them all thy heart to hold.
Each whispered word, each gentle sigh,
I’d trace across the boundless sky,
With tender hands thy form I’d chart,
And bind thee fast within my heart.
From dawn’s first blush to twilight’s close,
My soul for thee in ardor glows.
No fetters bind, no chains restrain,
My love doth course like sweetest rain.
I dread the hour when time runs dry,
When breath is spent, and I must die,
Yet not of Death itself I’m afeard,
But Time’s swift flight, so oft revered.
To love thee well would span an age
Beyond the reach of mortal gauge,
A realm where hours no more do bind,
And love eternal fills the mind.
O, were eternity my claim,
No hourglass to mark the same,
I’d spend my days with love sincere,
Proving truths beyond all fear.
No mortal words, no mortal song,
Could e’er portray how deep, how strong,
Yet still I strive with all I be
To show my love unceasingly.
The years do fleet, the moments fly,
Yet still my heart doth never die.
I pray to stars, the moon, the sun,
To grant me time when time is done.
For every second lost to Fate,
My soul doth love and celebrate.
Though grave may claim my fleeting breath,
My love endureth past all death.
Hear now, my dearest, sweetest one,
Ere fleeting Time hath fully run.
I dread not Death’s cold dark array,
But that my love may fade away.
Yet if the clock be brief and small,
My love transcends and doth outcall,
For when the hourglass spills through,
My heart beats on eternal for you.
O’er hill and dale, through storm and sun,
My love for thee is never done.
No tempest fierce, no raging sea,
Could ever shake this soul of me.
The fleeting days, like shadows cast,
Cannot contain a love so vast.
If words were stars that lit the night,
I’d write thy name in endless light.
When winter’s chill doth bite the air,
My heart beats warm with tender care,
And though the frost may claim the leaf,
My love remains beyond all grief.
I’d climb the heavens, scale the moon,
To sing for thee love’s sweetest tune.
No mortal tongue hath crafted song
That could encompass love so strong.
If I could bind the winds to stay,
I’d hold the hours back, delay
The coming dusk, the final breath,
To prove my love defies all death.
Each moment lost doth wound me sore,
For Time is thief and cruel lore,
Yet still my heart with courage swells,
In every beat thy name it tells.
To gaze upon thy radiant face
Is Heaven’s grace, is boundless space.
No earthly treasure, crown, or throne,
Could match the love that I have known.
Though Time may write upon my brow,
And bend my form to fate’s stern plow,
My love shall ever fresh remain,
A spring that rises after rain.
If I could hold eternity’s key,
Unlock the depths of destiny,
I’d cast aside the chains of years,
And drown thy doubts, dispel thy fears.
For love like ours no end can find,
Nor fade away with mortal mind.
’Tis writ in stars, ’tis sung by streams,
And dwells within my deepest dreams.
So when at last the sun shall set,
And Time’s last thread is severed yet,
Know this, my love, beyond the grave,
My soul is thine to keep and save.
In realms where mortal eyes can’t see,
Where Time bows low to Destiny,
I’ll find thee there, my heart, my guide,
And love thee on the other side.
No fear have I of death’s embrace,
Nor silence of this fleeting place,
But Time, that swift and ruthless foe,
Doth bid my love too soon to go.
Yet in that loss my vow shall stand,
Eternal as the stars so grand.
Though sands run out and clocks run down,
My love shall wear eternity’s crown.
If life’s brief candle must expire,
Then let my love be living fire,
A blaze that burns beyond the night,
And shines forever pure and bright.
O grant me time, O grant me breath,
To love thee past the grasp of death.
For if I had the heavens wide,
I’d spend them all with thee my bride.
So hear me now, my heart’s sole plea,
No span of time sufficeth me,
For Love is boundless, vast, and true,
And all my days I give to you.
