IDENTITY CRISIS

When I see people change over time,
Because of various factors—
New responsibilities,
New identities,
New environments
What it ignites in me is a sense of fear.

Most times, they lose their originality
Because of inherent hybridity.
It is usually not a sight to excite.
It makes me question if I'll ever have to give up myself
For a new self,
To wear the garment of a new person,
Totally different,
With new and different duties,
A different identity,
A new and different me
An alien.
