I work in marketing for a mid size manufacturing company, and AI has become my second brain more than anything else. The biggest shift for me happened when I stopped trying to use one tool to do everything and started building a little workflow chain.

I use Otter.ai religiously for transcribing sales calls and internal meetings. It spits out summaries faster than I can type notes. Then I take those transcripts and feed them into Claude (I switched from ChatGPT around mid 2025 and never looked back) to pull out recurring customer pain points or objections. From there, I drop those insights into Notion's AI to draft quick email sequences or social posts that address exactly what our customers are asking about. It turned a two day process into about two hours.

The tool I swear by that nobody talks about enough is Perplexity for research. Not just searching, but asking it to verify claims I find online. I had a competitor claim they had some patent pending tech, and Perplexity traced it back to a cancelled application from 2019. Saved us from chasing a ghost feature.

The real game changer though is using local AI models. I run Llama 3 on my laptop for sensitive internal documents that I refuse to upload to cloud servers. It's slower but gives me peace of mind when dealing with our proprietary product specs.

I'd say pick one small repetitive task and force yourself to use an AI tool for it for a week. For me it was summarizing long email threads. Now I can't imagine going back.

dude the perplexity thing is wild, i never thought to use it like that. i've been using it for basic fact checking but that competitor story is a whole other level. also totally feel you on the local models thing - i run mistral on my desktop for anything with client names in it. creepy how fast these tools evolve though, sometimes i feel like i'm barely keeping up lol
