HUMANITY’S SHADOW
by SIMU
Humanity is its own greatest problem.
We are the rot and the cure,
the shadow and the flame,
the architects of ruin standing on the bones of progress.
There is enough —
enough food to fill every belly,
enough water to quench every thirst,
enough of everything fivefold,
yet we hoard, we waste, we turn abundance into scarcity.
We are deeply twisted,
hypocrites draped in the robes of religion and culture,
smiling while we allow decay to fester,
clutching gain, profit, and power
at the expense of the very lives that give us meaning.
We fear the repetition of our own darkness,
the cyclic echo of greed and desire,
the patterns we refuse to see in ourselves.
Yet within this shadow,
there is a mirror —
a chance to recognize, to reflect, to choose differently.
But do we dare look?
Do we dare face the truth of our own creation?
We are both the problem and the solution,
yet we choose the easier path —
blind, comfortable, complicit.
Humanity is a flickering flame,
beautiful and fragile,
and yet we smother it with our own hands.
