The executive chairman of the Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari’s policies are in line with the policy of the executive governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, of transforming agriculture from a profession to a profitable and prosperous business.
Last year, Governor Buni inaugurated the largest and most effective agricultural empowerment program in West Africa in order to fulfil his commitment to transforming agriculture and food security through the production of agricultural products to combat food insecurity and create livelihoods for thousands of people in Yobe State.
Potiskum LGA has confirmed the implementation of the program following the commitment of the executive chairman of the local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, in seeing and confirming all the plans of Governor Buni in every sector, including agriculture, which has given priority to the sector in order to fulfil the plan of Governor Buni to develop the economy, create jobs, and transform agriculture from a profession to a profitable business following the success of becoming the only local government to win the International Award of Merit titled "Best Exhibitor of Agricultural Product."
After winning the award, the local government attracted the attention of major international businessmen from various sectors after displaying very good and well-organised crops, especially sesame, because it was the local government that showed international businessmen at 46th, Kaduna international trade fair, that Yobe State can produce over 600,000 tonnes of sesame every year and also the state has good sesame processing companies across the state.
Hon. Salisu Muktari affirmed that "we must stand up to ensure the commitment of His Excellency the Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN to provide a sound management system in the agriculture and health sectors.
"Because the Governor's commitments in these areas are in line with this era and will greatly contribute to the development of youth activities and provide the state with good means of self-reliance so that it can generate good sources of income." Said Hon. Salisu Muktari
