The executive chairman of the Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has installed solar-powered boreholes in Garin Abba, Mazagane, and Tiken Shanu to facilitate the people in accessing water for their daily needs.

The fact that the people in and around the town are facing the challenge of power shortages, which has led to people being thrown into a dire situation of water scarcity, the chairman of the local government area has taken the initiative to change the situation and install solar-powered boreholes to facilitate the good people of Potiskum Local Government Area.

The chairman has installed several solar-powered boreholes across the local government area from the town to the villages on the outskirts of the town to improve their lives and make it easier for them to access water for their daily needs.

During a field visit to Mazagane, one of the beneficiaries of the solar boreholes outside the town, Mal. Auwalu Mazagane confirmed that;

"A year ago, during the month of Ramadan, we were facing severe water shortages; we had to walk a long way to get water that we could use and drink during the opening hours.

"Sometimes, we could buy a 25-litre water bottle for N1000 because we had to pay for our own water needs, but after the installation of these boreholes by our executive chairman, who is very passionate about us and our community, we are now enjoying free water without spending a single penny.

"We are very happy with what the executive chairman of our local government, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has done for us, and on behalf of myself and the entire good people of Mazagane, we express our gratitude to him and all stakeholders in the Potiskum Local Government Area." Mal. Auwalu Mazagane said

The chairman has provided boreholes in several areas of the Potiskum local government area; we will continue to bring the changes achieved in each area with pictures showing detailed information.
