The executive chairman of Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has provided a spacious office to the Association of Cemetery Guards in Potiskum LGA old local government secretariat, which he revived after a long time of abandonment.
Also this is the first time the Association has been given a government-owned office to carry out its work of managing the local government’s cemeteries in an orderly and efficient manner.
The executive chairman revived the old local government secretariat after many years of neglect, handing it over to various authorities and agencies to carry out their duties.
Mal. Usman Koriyel, one of the cemetery guards, told us: "We are happy that we have found a place to establish our centre of operations. Since we are working to provide protection to the people who have passed away before us, we have struggled a lot to find shelters to live in as our main centre of operations.
"Like every sector, we have our leaders and stakeholders in this process and we follow the right system to obey our leaders, what this servant of Allah Hon. Salisu Muktari has done for us in this local government area has given us more courage to continue our work and we pray to God to strengthen him to continue to revive many sectors in this local government area."
