


Hon. Salisu Muktari Flags Off Polio Vaccination Campaign in Potiskum, Applauds Gov. Buni’s Health Reforms

The executive chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has launched the 2026 polio vaccination campaign in Dumbulwa town, commending the health reform agenda of Mai Mala Buni.
The flag-off, conducted on behalf of the chairman by the vice chairman, underscores the local government’s alignment with the state’s drive to strengthen primary healthcare and protect children from preventable diseases.
The event was attended by representatives of the Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs; the Supervisory Councillor for Health; the District Head of Lailai; health workers; and other key stakeholders.
In his remarks, Hon. Salisu Muktari praised Gov. Buni’s sustained investment in the health sector, noting that ongoing reforms have significantly improved access to quality healthcare services across the state.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting these efforts at the grassroots level, emphasising that immunisation remains a critical pillar in safeguarding public health.
The chairman called on parents and caregivers to ensure their children are vaccinated, stressing that collective participation is essential in the fight against polio.
Health officials highlighted that the campaign will be implemented across all communities in Potiskum LGA, with teams deployed to ensure comprehensive coverage.
The exercise reflects the continued synergy between state and local governments in advancing healthcare delivery, as Potiskum intensifies efforts to contribute to a polio-free Yobe State.
