Hon. Salisu Muktari Attends Lake Chad Basin Commission Meeting in Ndjamena, Chad

The executive chairman of Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, attended the Lake Chad Basin Commission meeting in Ndjamena, Chad.
The chairman was among the high delegations from Yobe State during the inaugural meeting chaired by the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN.
The meeting brought together the governors of Lake Chad and representatives from the states bordering Lake Chad, focused on ways to strengthen the borders and combat drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and border security between the states.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen security cooperation to overcome the problems plaguing the region and reviewed ways to generate revenue for the commission.
The meeting also looked at how to address the youth’s issues based on their resilience through job creation to curb the rise of terrorism and criminal activities in the Lake Chad region.
The meeting was held in Ndjamena, Chad, at the headquarters of Lake Chad Basin Commission.
The Yobe State Governor chaired the meeting in his capacity as the chairman of the Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum (LCBGF), marking the first time he has chaired a dialogue and consultation session since assuming the chairmanship a few months ago.
