The Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has hailed Distinguished Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai (Yobe South) for championing education and aligning his initiatives with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s far-reaching reforms across Yobe State.
Hon. Salisu Muktari gave the commendation as 51 students—the first batch of Senator Bomai’s 100 scholarship beneficiaries—departed Nigeria for India to pursue various degree programs fully sponsored by the senator.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the four local government areas of Fika, Fune, Potiskum, and Nangere, were each provided with additional financial support in dollars by Senator Bomai to ensure smooth relocation and settlement abroad.
“Senator Bomai’s investment in education reflects the shared vision of Governor Buni’s administration—building human capital, empowering youth, and opening doors of opportunity,” Hon. Muktari stated. “This kind of partnership shows how leadership can transform lives when driven by purpose and compassion.”
He described the initiative as a landmark step toward nurturing a generation of skilled professionals who will return to contribute meaningfully to Yobe’s development.
“By sending our youths abroad to learn, Senator Bomai is not just sponsoring students—he’s shaping the future of Yobe State,” Hon. Salisu Muktari added. “His effort complements Governor Buni’s drive to make education the foundation of our progress.”
The council boss emphasized that the synergy between the executive and legislative arms under Gov. Buni and Senator Bomai represents a new model of responsible governance built on shared priorities and genuine commitment to people’s welfare.
He further called on other leaders to emulate the senator’s example, noting that education remains the most powerful tool for sustainable growth and peace.
Across Yobe, community leaders, youth groups, and parents have commended Senator Bomai for his visionary scholarship program, describing the departure of the first 51 students as a milestone in the state’s quest for excellence in education.
“These efforts between Governor Buni and Senator Bomai stand as proof that when leaders unite behind a common vision, their people rise with them,” Hon. Salisu Muktari concluded.
