HIJABIS UNSILENCED
By Hafsah Abdulhakeem Ajoke
Her hijab, a crown of dignity,
Sets her free with gentle might.
A shield from evil, a symbol bright,
Guiding her to please the Almighty.
Her hijab flows like a river wide,
Carrying faith and identity with pride.
Observing obligations, leading to her success,
Guided by her heart and her faith's caress.
With every step, with every stride,
She wears her hijab, her identity pride.
A symbol of faith, of dignity and might,
Challenging stereotypes, shining with new light.
You say it's extremism, terrorism's face,
We say it's modesty, courage, faith's sacred space.
Resilience, resistance, autonomy, and pride,
The hijab stands strong, a symbol inside.
Sarah faced xenophobia's hurtful slurs,
Tara, a revert, faced family's opposing furors.
A Karnataka student barred from classes not fair,
Amina fled Somalia, prosecuted and brought to tears.
Fatoumata denied a job in Guinea's land,
Tunisia's restrictions, a public sector's command.
Aisha, beaten, battered, in her school's dark hall,
We aren't victims, but survivors, standing tall.
Hijab isn't a barrier, but a bridge to understanding,
A symbol of peace, harmony and faith's commanding.
So why the stereotypes, marginalization and pain?
Why the misconceptions, oppression, and discrimination's stain?
Hijab is her right, yet she struggles to observe,
Her strength spat at, with bans and harassment to deserve.
But still she stands, unwavering, unbroken,
The soft veil wrapped around her face, a gentle token.
A balmy reminder of faith's warm, loving hold,
It's vibrant, it's strength, her pride, her story unfold.
Silent strands of silk, softly seated on her shoulders so strong,
A symbol of faith's gentle guiding, where love and hope belong.
The hijab stands tall, a whispering secret keeper,
Of strength, resilience, and faith's essence, a heart that beats and quivers.
A commandment from the universe's Almighty hand,
The hijab guides her through life's joys, pains, and plans.
