HELD ON EDGE: a survivor's testimony

Just as I lay thorn at failures
The pain of failure overwhelmingly evident
As tears stream down my face.
There was a whisper in my head saying
You could do it, just a glass to the wrist
Locked in the bathroom of the hotel.
Locked in contemplation and fear
Contemplation to just leave it all behind
And fear of what unknown might lurk in the darkness of time.
I lay there sobbing, the voice becoming so loud and clear.
Then she burst in rushing me into her embrace.
Soothing words of you are going to be alright.
Don't leave just yet, it dawned on me that I needn't speak for she understood.
And without speech there stood reassurance that perhaps I still had one with life.
It wasn't my time yet!
