Herbal-infused oils are excellent for massage, skincare, or aromatherapy. They’re simple to make, customizable, and use natural ingredients. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Ingredients and Tools:
1. Carrier Oil (e.g., olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil)
2. Dried Herbs or Flowers (e.g., lavender, chamomile, calendula, rosemary)
3. A clean, dry glass jar with a lid
4. A strainer or cheesecloth
5. A dark glass bottle for storage (optional but
recommended)
6. A clean spoon or chopstick (for stirring)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Choose Your Herbs and Oils
Select herbs based on your desired benefits.
Lavender: Relaxation and calming effects.
Calendula: Soothing and anti-inflammatory.
Rosemary: Energizing and stimulates circulation.
Choose a carrier oil suitable for your skin type. For example, jojoba oil is non-comedogenic, making it ideal for acne-prone skin.

2. Prepare the Herbs
Use dried herbs to prevent mold and spoilage. If you only have fresh herbs, dry them thoroughly before use.

3. Combine Ingredients
Fill a clean jar halfway with dried herbs.
Pour the carrier oil over the herbs until completely submerged, leaving about an inch of space at the top of the jar. Stir to release any air bubbles.

4. Infuse the Oil
There are two main methods to infuse your oil:

Slow Infusion (Recommended):
Place the sealed jar in a warm, dark place for 4–6 weeks.
Shake the jar gently every few days to mix the contents.

Quick Infusion (For Immediate Use):
Place the jar in a double boiler or a slow cooker.
Heat gently on low (around 100°F to 120°F or 37°C to 49°C) for 2–6 hours.
Stir occasionally to prevent overheating.

5. Strain the Oil
Use a fine strainer or cheesecloth to strain the oil into a clean container, squeezing out as much liquid as possible from the herbs.

6. Store Your Infused Oil
Transfer the strained oil into a dark glass bottle to protect it from light and prolong shelf life.
Label with the date and type of infusion.

Tips for Use:
Use the oil directly for massage, or mix it with essential oils for added benefits.
Incorporate into homemade skincare products like balms or lotions.
Store in a cool, dark place and use within 6–12 months.
