Governor Buni, as the chairman of the seven-man committee set up to expand and consolidate the National Executive Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has vowed that his committee will improve the party’s performance and strengthen it for the 2027 general elections.
Governor Buni was tasked with reviewing the party’s constitution on Wednesday after the 13th National Executive Council meeting at the APC headquarters in Abuja, where he will lead the seven-man committee to reorganise the party’s structures and develop a sound strategy to meet the challenges of the 2027 general elections.
The members of the committee include Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (South-West), Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba (South-South), Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari (North-West), Governor Abdullahi Sule (North-Central), and the representative of the South-East.
The committee under Governor Buni will lead the way in proposing amendments to the party’s constitution to strengthen its internal foundations in preparation for the party’s national convention scheduled for 2026.
Governor Buni confirmed that: “Our goal is to expand the NEC to provide for good development and prosperity, and laws are made to benefit the people; therefore, this committee will review and ensure that our party’s constitution is in line with the current situation and the situation that may arise in the future.” Governor Buni said
Being an experienced politician with expertise in party operations and governance and a former chairman of the party’s national affairs committee, he reiterated the importance of regular consultation and review to ensure continued effectiveness and efficiency.
“The APC, as the largest political party in Africa, must continue to adapt and modernise to the current situation, and our committee will look at how to strengthen its operations and make it more effective, responsive, and ready for the challenges that may arise in the future.” Governor Buni added
He also stressed that “we must respect the wisdom of those who draughted our party constitution, because their experience and vision will guide us as we work to develop a document that will strengthen the party in preparation for the 2027 elections.” Governor Buni stated
It is hoped that the recommendations of the committee will help improve representation and provide a sound governance structure for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
