The executive governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, has disbursed the sum of 10 million Naira to support 453 Potiskum phone centre vendors.
This is in fulfilment of his earlier pledge, as he approved financial assistance for victims of the recent incident that occurred in the Potiskum Phone Centre that resulted in significant losses of goods and property.
The N10 million is being disbursed to 453 affected vendors as an initial PRE-LOSS ASSESSMENT stipend; also, the validation and verification process was conducted jointly by the leadership of Potiskum Phone Centre and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Also, Governor Buni has directed SEMA to develop both mid- and long-term support for their recovery, and this is a step to expand their business and encourage them, as the Potiskum Phone Centre is a centre for providing employment to the youth across the region.
Based on the instructions of the esteemed governor, after the disbursement of the 10 million Naira, some beneficiaries will also benefit from financial aid in the coming days, along with a stimulus package that includes food baskets and other essential supplies.
This is an effort by Governor Buni to confirm his commitment to developing business and improving the lives of the youth.
