The executive governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has completed the construction of good and modern maternity and paediatric hospitals in two local government areas of the State, Yusufari and Yunusari.
The provision of new and reviving old hospitals is part of the Yobe state government's resolution to bring about modern changes in the health sector and curb the problems that have afflicted mothers and babies across Yobe state.
Following Governor Buni's good initiative to facilitate, modernise, and remodel health care, he has provided quality first-level hospitals PHC in almost all the 178 district, wards across the state where each PHC is equipped with adequate equipment, medicines, and medical professionals to facilitate the community in the health sector.
Also in his efforts to provide women and children with the best, most effective, and most efficient health system to improve society and bring relief to the parties, he has created a large centre for the care of children, women, and babies and also provided the most effective and largest baby care unit in West Africa at Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Damaturu.
His government has also created new hospitals and upgraded some of the hospitals to specialist hospitals. Among those that have been upgraded to general hospitals are General Hospital Machina, Bara, Babbangida, Mallam Baba-Nguru, Jajimaji, Buni Gari, Yusufari, and Gulani. All of these have gone from primary health care to the general hospital and provided them with adequate facilities and modern medical professionals under Governor Buni.
In terms of babies, the governor did not stop there; alone, he created special baby care units (Special Baby Care Units) in most of the major hospitals in Yobe state, and he created a largest and modern diagnostic centre in Yobe state university teaching hospital Damaturu.
Governor Buni is committed to developing health, agriculture, animal husbandry and revitalising the economy of Yobe state.
