The executive governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN, is committed to improving the lives of rural people by providing them with reliable electricity and adequate Access roads that will easily connect them to the cities of Yobe State.
As everyone knows, the Yobe State Government has committed to providing 178 roads that will connect the 178 districts of the state with the cities of the state, which is among the most effective proposals that the governor has included in the 2025 budget.
Another new chapter that has attracted attention in improving the lives of rural people is that yesterday, the Yobe State Government partnered with the Federal Government to provide electricity to the people living in rural areas of Yobe State.
As the signing ceremony and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Abuja, bringing together the Yobe State Government, the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), and stakeholders in the Nigerian energy sector.
The Yobe State Government has already achieved significant achievements in the field of electrification, having provided electricity to several areas of the state and restored electricity to the eastern part of Gujba, which was disrupted for a long time due to Boko Haram insurgency.
Under his administration, over 400 communities across the three zones, which includes the extension of 33KV and 11KV distribution lines and the upgrading of power supply to various areas.
The governor also confirmed that his government has provided a new 330/132/33 KV transmission line and ensured power supply to Yobe State University and the Yobe State Teaching Hospital.
Interestingly, his government has provided over 100 transformers with a capacity of 300 KVA to 500 KVA in key locations, including health centers and schools in the state, in addition to providing transformers to densely populated areas to provide a reliable, sustainable, and consistent power supply.
The provision of these two developments will strengthen the economy and ease the lives of rural people and it will improve access to education, health, and business for the rural community and the villages of the state as a whole.
Governor Buni is improving the lives of the good people of Yobe State by providing them with a better way to manage.
