Yobe State’s investment in education under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, is producing shining results—transforming lives, restoring hope, and redefining the future for thousands of children across the state.
The latest testimony to this success is Amina Nuhu, a 14-year-old girl from Geidam, who is set to represent Yobe State and all Nigerian girls at the National Program for the International Day of the Girl (IDG) in Abuja.
Amina, a Girl Champion with Save the Children, Nigeria, recently completed her JSS 3 at the newly constructed Geidam Mega School—one of the modern educational facilities established through Governor Buni’s post-conflict education recovery initiative.
Her journey from a once conflict-affected community to boarding a flight for a national event is more than symbolic—it reflects the impact of Governor Buni’s massive investment in rebuilding, reforming, and revitalizing education in Yobe State.
Through the YOBE EDUCATION REVIVAL POLICY, Governor Buni has constructed and renovated hundreds of classrooms and model schools across the 17 LGAs. Recruited and trained over 5,000 qualified teachers to strengthen learning quality.
He also introduced special incentives for girl-child education, drastically improving enrollment and retention rates, and partnered with global organizations like UNICEF, Save the Children, and the World Bank to enhance access, equity, and digital learning.
“Our commitment is to ensure that every Yobe child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Education remains the foundation of peace and prosperity,” Governor Buni stated.
Indeed, Amina’s story is not an isolated case. She follows the path of three Yobe girls who previously represented Nigeria in London, showcasing the brilliance and resilience nurtured by Buni’s education reforms.
From the ruins of conflict, Governor Buni has rebuilt not just schools but dreams—restoring confidence among parents and communities that education is the greatest weapon against poverty and insecurity.
Today, the flight of Amina Nuhu from Geidam classrooms to the skies of Abuja stands as a living symbol of Gov. Buni’s transformative leadership—a testament that Yobe’s investment in education is not only yielding results but also positioning the state as a model for post-conflict educational recovery in Nigeria.
Yobe’s daughters are rising, learning, and leading—because Governor Mai Mala Buni believes in their power to shape the future.
