In a decisive move to deepen grassroots economic development and promote regional cooperation, the Yobe State Government has officially commissioned the newly completed Ngalda Modern Market, a flagship commercial project designed to transform trading activities in Ngalda and surrounding communities of Fika LGA.

The modern market was renamed Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya Modern Market in honor of the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, a gesture widely described as a symbol of good neighborliness, interstate cooperation, and mutual respect between Yobe and Gombe States.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, officials of the Yobe State Government noted that the project aligns with the broader development vision of Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose administration has continued to prioritize infrastructure renewal, economic empowerment, and people-oriented governance across the state.

The Ngalda Modern Market is part of a deliberate strategy to modernize commercial centers, decongest informal trading spaces, and create a safer, more organized environment for businesses to thrive.

The market is equipped with modern stalls, improved access roads, and enhanced facilities aimed at supporting small and medium-scale traders, boosting local commerce, and creating employment opportunities for youths and women.

Community leaders and traders have described the project as timely and transformative, noting that it will significantly improve livelihoods and stimulate economic activities within the area.

Beyond its economic value, the renaming of the market after Gov. Inuwa Yahaya underscores Gov. Buni’s commitment to strengthening regional ties and fostering peaceful coexistence among neighboring states.

The gesture reflects a leadership style rooted in inclusiveness, diplomacy, and long-term development partnerships.

As Yobe State continues its steady march towards economic recovery and sustainable growth, the commissioning of the Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya Modern Market stands as yet another testament to Gov. Buni’s resolve to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the people.

It's also reinforcing his administration’s reputation for purposeful leadership and impactful development.
