It was a day that will be remembered for years to come in Wagir and the Bukkel communities of the Fune and Gujba Local Government Area—a day when the people’s heartfelt appeal for electricity met a leader who truly listened.

During his recent visit to inspect the newly completed Primary Healthcare Centre in Wagir, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, was welcomed not just with cheers but with a silent plea written boldly on a billboard: “We Need Electricity.”

The governor paused, read the message, and looked at the faces of hopeful men, women, and youths who had gathered to be heard. Their words were few, but their message was powerful—and Governor Buni understood.

Days later, the sound of trucks and engineers filled the air in Wagir as work officially began on the long-awaited electrification project, bringing joy, relief, and tears of gratitude to a community that had waited so long for light.

“We didn’t shout, we didn’t protest—we simply lifted our message, and he listened. Governor Buni has proven that true leadership means feeling the heartbeat of your people,” said a joyful resident, watching as workers set poles along the roadside.

The project, which also covers Bukkel and neighboring communities, is expected to transform local life—powering small businesses, improving security, and lighting up homes and hopes.

For many, this moment is more than an infrastructure project—it is a symbol of empathy and action, a reminder that Governor Buni’s leadership is not about promises but about results that touch lives.

“He saw our sign, he read our plea, and today we see light. Dan Buni has given us more than electricity; he has given us hope,” another community elder said with emotion.

As Wagir begins to glow, so does the trust of the people in a governor whose heart beats with theirs—a leader who listens, responds, and delivers.
