In a landmark achievement that underscores a strong commitment to rural transformation, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has successfully completed and delivered the Bayamari–Gadan Kaliyari road in Bursari Local Government Area, bringing a permanent solution to a challenge that plagued residents for years.

Linking the town of Bayamari to the strategic bridge at Kaliyari, the road has emerged as a critical infrastructure project that is already reshaping lives and livelihoods across Bursari and neighboring Yunusari communities. What was once a symbol of neglect and seasonal suffering has now been transformed into a reliable and resilient corridor of opportunity.

For decades, the route remained a major concern, particularly during the rainy season when heavy flooding would submerge and wash away large sections of the road, entire communities were often cut off, economic activities disrupted, and commuters exposed to serious risks. The road’s condition not only hindered movement but also slowed down development in the Bursari LGA.

Responding to the pressing needs of the people, Gov. Buni’s administration undertook a comprehensive reconstruction of the road with a focus on durability and long-term impact. The project involved elevating the road above flood-prone levels, strengthening its foundation, and constructing robust bridges to ensure uninterrupted access throughout the year.

The once-dangerous route has been converted into a modern, all-weather road that guarantees safe, smooth, and efficient movement. Residents can now travel with confidence, while goods and services move more freely across communities. The improved access is already boosting local commerce, enhancing agricultural productivity, and creating new economic opportunities.

Farmers, in particular, stand to benefit significantly, as they can now transport their produce to markets without delays or losses caused by poor road conditions. Traders and transporters are also witnessing increased activity, signaling a gradual but steady revival of the local economy.

The social benefits are equally profound; communities that were once isolated are now reconnected, improving access to healthcare, education, and other essential services. The road has strengthened social ties and reinforced a sense of inclusion in the broader development efforts of the state.

Residents have continued to express deep appreciation for the project, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that has brought relief and renewed hope. Many see it as clear evidence of Gov. Buni’s dedication to fulfilling his promises and prioritizing the welfare of the people.

Beyond its immediate impact, the Bayamari–Kaliyari road aligns with the broader vision of the Yobe State Government to expand infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and ensure balanced development across all regions. It stands as a testament to what focused leadership and strategic investment can achieve.

As this milestone project continues to generate positive reactions, it reinforces a growing reality: under Gov. Buni, development is not just a vision but a consistent and tangible achievement that is improving lives and shaping a more connected and prosperous Yobe State.
