The Executive Governor of Yobe State H.E Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN has managed to reduce a significant part of the domestic debt owed to Yobe State.
In a statistical report on the record of high and medium domestic debt across the 37 states of Nigeria, including the national capital Abuja, the "Domestic Management Office" (DMO) confirmed that Yobe State, under the leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has achieved a 9.07% reduction in its debt as of the fourth quarter of 2024.
The statistics also show that the state has reduced its domestic debt from 46,249,753,216.13 as of June 30, 2024, to 42,055,410,877.07 as of December 31, 2024, which has enabled Yobe State to achieve a reduction in domestic debt.
The debt reduction drive is reducing the rising economic pressure and reducing the economic pressure that the state is facing in various areas, including debt repayment and resource extraction for development.
The repayment of this loan is a matter of pride after, despite the difficulties in repaying the loan, Governor Buni played a significant role in providing quality development and livelihood services across the state, which shows that the state has taken the responsibility of taking on its development projects.
The achievement is commendable after a situation where other states are struggling to find loans for their development. Seeing this, Governor Buni played a significant role in the revival of the economy of Yobe State.
Out of 37 states of Nigeria, including the country's capital, only 10 states have lesser debt than Yobe State.
