They always say that when a person is buried,
There must be flowers presented to them
But what if there are no flowers?
Can the dead still rest?
I've always known flowers to be for beauty
To brighten our homes
But what importance do they hold in the graveyard?
Once a person dies ,they bring flowers
Can flowers bring them back?
Mama once told me that when she leaves this earth
She doesn't want too many flowers.
Unless they're given to her
While she's alive,
And that, that hit me .
Because I kept wondering,
What do flowers have to do with the dead
When the living are the ones
Who still need them.
