The executive chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, is continuing to evacuate and repair drainages across Potiskum LGA to prevent flooding.
The chairman is committed to improving the lives of the community and ensuring that any factor that could threaten or hinder the functioning of the LGA is eliminated; that is why he is currently repairing and evacuating the drainages across Potiskum LGA.
As Potiskum LGA is among the local governments areas of Yobe State that are plagued by catastrophic floods that cause destruction of homes, loss of property, and loss of lives, which experts have confirmed is due to the blockage of water channels (drainage) that occurs every year.
The chairman has taken the first step to address the flooding problem by repairing and evacuating the drainages in Potiskum Local Government Area.
The chairman also called on the environmental officers of the Local Government Area to improve their performance to prevent any environmental threat to the people of Potiskum Local Government Area and assured them of full support to improve their performance at all times.
"I urge the environmental officers of this local government to improve their work in monitoring any issue that may threaten the well-being of our community, from health issues to problems related to flooding and other threats from any aspect that may cripple the social life of our community.
"We are ready with all our strength to provide the necessary support to encourage this sector in order to improve their work and improve the lives of our community," He said.
