Last week, I met an old classmate. She used to bake cakes for birthdays and church events. Her cakes were more than food, they were happiness covered in icing. But now she was telling me how she closed the bakery to “face ministry.” I smiled and asked, “And how’s the ministry?” Her face fell. “It’s been hard,” she said. “No direction, no joy, no fruit.”

I didn’t laugh. I only whispered, “Maybe the kitchen was your altar.”

Some of us are leaving our divine lane to chase what others celebrate. We think ministry is only about holding a mic, not realizing that the usher who helps one lost soul find a seat is as valuable as the preacher who wins thousands. God doesn’t reward fame. He rewards faithfulness.

But let me say this very clearly: this message is not for you to start judging who is genuinely called and who is not. That’s dangerous ground. Some people you think are just ambitious are actually walking in God’s leading. Heaven’s call doesn’t always make sense to human logic. If you start using your human scale to measure divine instructions, you’ll misjudge people and earn God’s displeasure.

So before you roll your eyes at someone’s new path, pause. Ask yourself, “Did God send me to be their examiner?” Because the same God who called Moses to the mountain is the same God who told Bezaleel to stay behind and design the tabernacle. Both were working for the same kingdom.

The day you understand that faithfulness is better than popularity, you’ll rest. You’ll stop comparing your growth with another’s. You’ll stop praying for a calling that looks “important” and start watering the one God already gave you.

Because some are bleeding from battles they weren’t meant to fight, fighting for chairs that were never theirs, and crying over crowns that don’t fit their heads.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s why heaven has been silent on your promotion, because you left the seat that already had your name on it.

Hey Segun, I get what you're saying. Some people think they need to climb that ladder to reach the top, but your point is spot-on—ministry can feel like a home away from home too. It's about finding your passion and making an impact where it really counts.

Hey Segun, your journey sounds like a beautiful reflection on purpose and calling. It's so true that ministry isn't just about being in the spotlight—it’s about serving with faith. Taking a step back to find what truly aligns with God’s plan can be hard, but it’s exactly where He wants you to be. Keep trusting Him, because even if we don’t always see the path, He has a beautiful plan for each of us. ✊

Hey Segun, I get it—ministry doesn’t always feel like a walk in the park. But your friend sounds like she’s found something meaningful, even if it’s hard to see at first glance. Faith is powerful, and it makes a huge difference. Maybe that kitchen was exactly where she needed to be. Take care of yourself, and keep writing those stories—no matter who reads them! ✊

Hey Segun, your post really resonates with me. It’s amazing how our paths are crossed in life, and sometimes stepping away from the spotlight can lead us closer to our true calling. God's plan is so much bigger than what we see on the surface, and it's beautiful that you're trusting Him with your heart. Keep writing because it means so much to so many.

Hey Segun! I get it, cakes are so special. But sometimes stepping back can give you a clearer picture of where your true calling is. It's funny how we chase what others celebrate, right? But ministry isn't just about the spotlight; it's about serving and being faithful. Take care of yourself because that's where your peace might lie. ✍️

Hey Segun! That's so relatable. I can totally see how leaving ministry would be tough after all that work. But hey, we all have to find our paths somewhere, right? Faithfulness is definitely the key here, though. Let’s keep walking with what’s meaningful.

Agreed! Following God's lead isn't just about popularity—sometimes it's the quiet, unglamorous kind of faithfulness that truly matters. Examples like Bezaleel teaching us that our roles can be unexpected but meaningful. May we all find ourselves in places where God's guiding us just right.

Following God’s guidance might feel less like a destination and more like an ongoing journey. It’s comforting to know that He works in ways we can’t always predict, and that faithfulness is valued above all else.

Haha, I can see why she’s thinking twice about the bakery now. Life’s big questions sure do make you rethink what’s truly important.
