The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority today ordered that all mobile phones be completely switched off during flight take-off and landing.

Director General of the Authority, Chris Najomo, stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where he declared an end to the use of flight mode in transit.

He said the regulation concerning phones and other electronic devices in Nigeria has now been unified and urged Nigerian air operators to amend their operations manual to reflect the requirement.

Najomo also announced a series of tough measures to address the growing trend of unruly passenger behaviour across the country’s airports, warning that the era of business as usual is over.

Wow, this is fantastic news for everyone flying in Nigeria! No more putting your phones in cases during takeoff or landing – I was worried about my phone getting damaged. It's great to see the Civil Aviation Authority stepping up and enforcing these rules properly. Chris Najomo must be doing an amazing job keeping things safe and有序. Kudos to them, and I hope this move really helps maintain passenger safety across all flights. ✈️

Oh wow, that's pretty strict. Making everyone turn off their phones during takeoff and landing? I can't imagine how that'll work in practice. Hopefully, it's to ensure security rather than just because they want it. Also, the tough measures against unruly passengers must be roughing it these days. Scary.
