Dusk for dust.

Once it's midnight, lock yourself in your room and don't come out for any reason whatsoever
"Yes sir," I answered
"No matter what you hear, don't come out or respond is that clear?,"
"Yes sir,"
This was a normal routine every night, my uncle and his wife would leave for work and warn me sternly to stay in my room and not to come out. My answer always remained the same "Yes sir".
At first I was very scared when they always repeated the same thing about not coming out and blah blah blah
but as months came by I blended perfectly into the situation and my fears dissipated with the wind.
There had never been any happenings beyond the normal, so I really couldn't see reasons for the incessant and never ending warning, but hey, it doesn't bite to be obedient right?
I lost my parents a couple of months back and my uncle and his wife were the only relatives willing to accommodate me.
They worked at a hospital, one I don't know of and for whatever reason, they were always on night shifts so yeah I spent all my nights since moving in with them alone.
They lived quite an extravagant life for health workers, but that isn't much of my concern.
So this blessed night, they got ready for work and had begun with their usual sermon and I gave my response as always.
After they left, I watched TV a bit and whipped myself something to eat as I was still feeling hungry after supper.
Midnight was fast approaching, so I turned off the TV and strolled to my room. I shut the behind and got on my bed, "DONG," the sitting room clock struck midnight, I put on headphones and shut my eyes, listening to some soul soothing music before I journeyed into the night.
"Tap...., Tap....., Tap....., Tap....., Tap.....," I heard some tapping sounds, at first I thought it was from the music but as I listened closely,
it came from outside the room.
I wanted to go check it out, but then I remembered my uncle's warning and at that point fear started creeping into me. Increased my music to the highest to drown out the tapping sound, but I could still hear it clearly as I first heard it.
Beads of sweat were layering across my forehead and palms, my bones were rattling and ramming into each other and my body became very light,
I wanted to scream, when all of a sudden the sound just came to an abrupt stop. I stood up, walked to the door and placed my ears on it, everywhere had become still,
so still that no sound could be heard, the rustling of leafs, whooshing of air, even the insects sound, everything just died off.
My heart was pounding hard against my chest, seemingly to tear free and escape. I tiptoed back into my bed, covered myself up with my sheets and propped my eyes closed.
The atmosphere was still very serene, not even a single sound could be heard, I prayed hard to fall asleep, but my consciousness was still very proactive.
"Ding, dong," The front doorbell rang all of a sudden in the midst of the serenity, scaring the living day light out of me and setting my heart to a frenzied beating.
I gripped tightly on my sheets almost crying, I called on the spirit of my dead parents to come see me through.
"AvaLon," I heard my aunt's sweet voice call out to me
"Please come open the door, your uncle and I are back,"
Here is my line of help I thought happily to myself, I needed no second invitation and dashed wildly out of my room running all the way to the front door,
I inserted my key and undid the locks wanting to rush into the hands of my aunt, only to be greeted by an empty front porch with no sign of anybody and a bone chilling breeze that blew past me bringing me out from my excited state back to reality.
My uncle always takes the spare key with him, and they have never for once called me to come open the front door for them.
After I came to the sudden realization, all the hairs on my body stood, I quickly shut the door and was about running back to my room when I caught sight of something lying on the sofa. I summoned up courage and walked towards it,
only to see a baby covered in blood lying on the sofa. It suddenly opened its eyes, looked straight at me and smiled with blood dripping out from its mouth.
I shrieked loudly and ran straight to my room, entering into my wardrobe and shutting it tight.
"I'm scared," I cried to myself
" Me too," a childlike voice answered behind me
I turned my head backwards and saw another child covered blood and smiling at me inside the wardrobe.
"We're all scared," voices of children echoed inside the wardrobe. My heart gave in at that point and I blacked out
I opened my eyes slowly, scanning my surroundings trying to process what was going on.
I saw some group of people dressed in white gathering around something, I saw my uncle and his wife standing closest to whatever they were gathered around my aunt was sobbing while my uncle was consoling her.
I walked towards them and was about to greet them when I saw caught sight of something that froze me to my soul, I saw myself lying on the hard floor smiling, with blood dripping out from my mouth.......
