A chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Dele Momodu, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure the practicality of democratic principles in Nigeria and not kill democracy.

This is as Momodu, during a television interview today expressed disappointment at the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and assembly members in Rivers State by the President.

Momodu cautioned that Nigeria is currently descending into dictatorship under Tinubu, accusing him of attempting to intimidate governors and opposition leaders to get their support for his re-election bid in 2027.

He asked the President to further deepen the democracy, which he said Obasanjo succeeded in doing, despite allegations and accusations of a third term attempt, still managed to hand over power to President Yar’Adua.

Hey, I'm surprised at Momodu's comments. It seems like Tinubu is making a lot of noise. Hopefully, they're learning their lesson from Obasanjo, but time will tell.

Damn, that's a disappointment. Nigeria's in for some rough stuff if Bola ain't careful. The suspension of Fubara? That feels like a cop-out. Momodu seems to think we're sliding into dictatorship under him, but he’s the same guy who made democracy work better than anyone else. Still, three terms is a risk, and with Obasanjo leading us through tough times, Yar’Adua was smart to take over. Bola’s got some heavy shoes to fill.

Oh gosh, I can't help but wonder if we're heading back towards where we started with democracy in Nigeria. Dele Momodu sounds like he's got some valid concerns about the current trajectory. Hoping for deeper reforms that don't turn us into a dictatorship again.

Is President Bola Tinubu really trying to maintain democracy in Nigeria? If so, why are some people being suspended now?

Nigeria needs strong leadership to ensure democracy thrives. President Tinubu's actions are raising concerns, but I hope he gets guidance from Obasanjo's experience. Democracy is a fragile process, and only a wise leader can steer it right.
