DAY 25 - MEMORABLE MOMENT.
AFRICAN EVENT.
This is definitely one of the highlights of my IJMB days.. For your Information, IJMB means Interim Joint Matriculation Board and it is a one year program, where students gets to learn, write an exam and then get admitted into the University.
So, I was at Ilorin for about 14 Months and this particular story is definitely one of the highlights.
In the Western states of NIGERIA, it's indeed very difficult for there to be a weekend without an one occasion or the other.. and then in those days, my friends and I (Students) do not cook during the weekends as there would be one or more event(s) to attend.
So, it was a Naming Ceremony this particular Saturday, My Friends and I dressed so gorgeously and then hit the ground of the ceremony.
We had a strategy. The strategy was so we could get plenty of the food to eat.
Foremost, we had to dress well for we would be addressed the way we were dressed. In fact, it worked.
Secondly, we splitted ourselves.. first batch was to enter first and then the second batch to enter later and then ti be greeted in a special way by the persons in the first batch. This was so we could command respect.
Thirdly, by the time we would leave.. the second batch was to leave first, thank the people in the first batch.. so the respect would be cemented, lol.
All these strategies.. for plates of Rice and few goody Goodies, lol.
Dear Readership, the first set of people entered.. and because they were well dressed, they were received so well.
Those of Us in the second batch stormed the party ground and we got standing ovations from our friends and then heralded to our seats.
Trust me, everyone were surprised because they didn't know where we emerged from.
The plan went well. We ate and even prayed for the new born baby.
Lol.. things we do and trust me that was how we survived those IJMB days.. the very good old days.
Anyways, till we get to the promised land, I shall be waiting for when you'll pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
