Agnes, how do you do it? This is one of the numerous questions I have gotten from friends since I began putting myself out there.
Truth is, I don't even know either. Writing has always been a part of me since I learned to read and write. Being a timid child back then, I believed the only way I could boldly express myself without getting shushed was to write it down in a book or on a piece of paper.
It was difficult for me to defend myself or ask for something from people. Although I could talk, I'm the very emotional type that if something goes wrong and I'm asked to explain or defend myself, my tears won't let me speak.
I'd cry until I was asked to leave. Sometimes they'd think I did it, but the truth is, they just didn't understand me. It took my aunt quite some time to understand that writing does it all for me. So, at some point, she was the one who encouraged me to always pick up a book or a piece of paper and write out things that bothered me and I didn't know how to verbally express.
initially, I thought there was something wrong with me for not being able to express myself verbally. However, that narrative about me changed when the people around me told me they liked how expressive I get when writing.
Yes, there's nothing wrong with me, there's nothing wrong with you either. I just have a unique way of communicating with people, and you also have a unique way of communicating with people.
My ink is my voice. I can boldly express myself and tell you how it all started but in an overall way, "My ink is how I do it."
How do you do it? How did you get creative? I don't know who needs to know this, but there's nothing wrong with you. That's just your way of manifesting your potential, and I encourage you to maximize it and make it big so the whole world will know of you for what you do, and how you do it.
