Cluster Settlements in the Trenches of Lagos and Ogun Border

Asides from muddy roads, another major feature of trenches in Nigeria is the cluster Settlements where buildings are closely knitted.
This is associated to the fact that people in quest to own their own houses, have to compete for limited land spaces which are often sold per hectares in areas considered to be less costly and affordable. Such lands are relatively cheaper and every low income earners are quick to own land there and erect their structures.
The danger therefore is that the poor quality of the buildings and lack of adequate spaces could be detrimental to those structures. Poorly built structures can be detrimental to other buildings which can lead to multiple fatalities.
The Government should therefore endeavor to improve on its Housing delivery policies for more people to own affordable Houses to prevent such risk.
