Chicago on the Fourth is different.

Navy Pier fireworks over the lake. The skyline lit up in red white and blue. Three million people outside in a city that spent six months praying for weather warm enough to be outside.

We earned this. Every Chicagoan earned this. We survived January. We survived February. We survived the wind that makes you question your life choices. The Fourth is our reward.

Deep dish is on the table. Italian beef is on the table. Someone brought Garrett's popcorn because you cannot have a Chicago gathering without the cheese and caramel mix appearing like it was summoned.

Happy Fourth, Chi. We made it to summer.
