Challenge Overcome - Day 26
Growing Up, I have always told you how that I never mingled with people and children of my age as I always get cooped. This actually has a lot of side-effects and one of them is Inability to socialize.
And that was it. The first problem I had as a Youth was my inability to socialize with people. I preferred to stay in my shell instead of going out. I always preferred to stay in my room instead of for for programs. I preferred not to speak with people instead of socializing with them.
And of course, I began to see the consequences - I began to miss opportunities that would have lifted me up. I began to miss relationships that would have sharpened my life.
What did I do? I just remembered one of the African proverbs, meditated on it, pondered on it and then began to do the needful.
"When you sit by the river, don't refuse to get wet" - African proverb.
The proverb above had me thinking for days and then I deciphered it's meaning - Be open to new experiences and social interactions.
Another is - "A single stick cannot burn the fire", and this one means that community and collaboration are essentially essential for progress.
After pondering on these proverbs, I began to see myself as a social being and then began to actively and deliberately interact with people and truth be told I have been seeing the dividends and would continue to see.
This should be a lesson to all and sundry.
Anyways, till we get to the promised land, I shall be waiting for when you'll pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for this race.
